Sheila Hunt

DSA Award Winner (2013)

Sheila’s involvement in the Leaside Tennis Club spans some forty years. She served on the Board of Directors in many capacities including President, Vice-President, Tournament Director and Team Captain. She has also been actively involved as a member of the Board of Directors of the Toronto Ladies Tennis League for the same period holding every position at least once.

In the 1970s Sheila initiated school programs and volunteered to teach tennis at local elementary schools. Over the years she contributed to the development of a strong junior program at Leaside. Sheila is still an active volunteer at the Leaside club having just completed another term as Tournament Director. She is also still Captain of a Lady's evening team.

Sheila’s family helped finance the building of Leaside’s first clubhouse. The Hunt family also arranged and signed for a loan to resurface the courts.

Sheila is a positive role model for anyone interested in volunteering. She has dedicated countless hours, years in fact, to the development of tennis and has been a driving force behind the success of the Toronto Ladies Tennis League.
