Sharon Cashman
DSA Award Winner (2024)
Sharon has made significant contributions to tennis in Ontario over the past two decades. Joining the North Bendale Tennis Club (NBTC) executive as Treasurer in 2000, she held that position until 2002. In 2003, Sharon was elected President, serving until 2021. During her presidency, she played a key role in establishing the "Tennis Introduction" program, bringing tennis to local elementary schools and creating numerous after-school and weekend lesson programs for hundreds of children. Sharon encouraged junior members to assist with these programs, offering them community service hours and later part-time employment.
Sharon also managed the club’s house league program and served as a Scarborough Tennis Federation (STF) competitive league captain. From 2015 to 2017, she was the VP of Events on the STF Board, organizing president socials, volunteer appreciation events, and the STF awards banquet.
In recognition of her exemplary service, Court #1 at NBTC was dedicated as the Sharon Cashman Championship Court. Sharon’s long-term dedication and leadership have left a lasting impact on the tennis community in Ontario.
