Murray Rubin

DSA Award Winner (2022)

Murray’s love for tennis knows no bounds, having been a long-standing member of the York Racquets Club and a supporter of the development of tennis in Israel through fundraising efforts for over 20 years. He has always been a big supporter of tennis in Canada, but a one-lifetime wish had always eluded him: to see a Canadian player win a Grand Slam tournament. Not a person to sit back and wait for luck to happen, Murray took matters into his own hands in 2003 with his unique leadership and vision and brought what is now known as the U10 Champions to young up-and-coming boys and girls in Ontario. This unique tournament and coaching scholarship started a great partnership with the OTA and along with his significant financial support, Murray’s vision became a reality with the first ever U9 Champions finals held at Aviva Centre on November 10, 2013. Since then many U10 boys and girls have benefited from his scholarships for high-performance training. As for Murray’s wish, he can now rest easy knowing that Canadian Bianca Andresscu won her first Grand Slam at the US Open in 2019.
