Meet Your OTA Board – Kathryn Laidlaw, Toronto Region Chair
Meet Kathryn Laidlaw, a new addition to the OTA Bord of Directors. Kathryn is currently on the OTA board as Regional Chair representing Toronto. Kathryn began her tennis career at the age of 10 and played throughout her teenage years into University. Playing become sporadic at that point due to the lack of facilities and a growing interest for another sport. The martial arts took hold of her and continued for the next several decades. She has competed provincially, nationally and internationally. Along the way she became President of Karate Ontario, and later, a Vice President of Karate Canada.
As injuries took their toll, Kathryn moved back to tennis. Recreational tennis at the local club became important again. She volunteered and eventually became a member of the board. She was President of Wychwood Tennis Club from 2018 to 2022. She also began volunteering for Tennis Toronto in 2017 and was elected to the board. Kathryn is currently Chair of Tennis Toronto.
In addition to sports, she has also been a board member for a number of non-profit organizations including the Red Cross and United Way. Professionally, Kathryn has worked in IT as a Director of IT Program Management for financial institutions.
Now retired, when Kathryn’s not playing tennis, she enjoys city life and traveling.
