Bianca Andreescu Wins Rogers Cup!!!!
Mississauga native Bianca Andreescu is the first Canadian to win the Rogers Cup (formerly the Canadian Open) since Faye Urban from Windsor won it in 1969. Bianca won the final when Serena Williams was forced to retire, trailing 3-1 in the first set. Bianca started playing tennis in Romania and returned to Canada at the age of 10, continuing to learn the game at ORC in Mississauga and later at the Tennis Canada Training Centre in Toronto. She had great success as a junior and of course her meteoric rise in the pro ranks has been well documented. Bianca began playing tournaments in the OTA system and credits it with helping greatly in her early development. The OTA has covered Bianca’s success many times over the years.
