Next Gen Tennis League This Weekend!

Next Gen Tennis League This Weekend!

After being forced to take a break last weekend due to the new Ontario COVID regulations, NGTL is back in action this coming weekend with three exciting matches being scheduled for Saturday Oct 17th and Sunday Oct 18th.

On Saturday Team Mary-Ann Kewin @ RoyalLepage, currently leading the league standings, will play Team Byte Network Security. The match will be played at The Credit Valley Tennis Club in Mississauga and will start at 4pm.

Two other matches this weekend will be played on Saturday. Team Beyond The Next Level will face Athletacare (the match will be played at The Credit Valley Tennis Club - starting time is 3pm.), Team Planet4iT will face Hydrogen at the Burlington Tennis Club starting at 4:30pm

The teams are expecting good weather and are fielding strong lineups and all teams are promising some great weekend matches.

Next Gen Tennis League is a new tennis league in Canada. Our league is unique and serves a great purpose to the local competitive tennis community. The league is based on the UTR (Universal Tennis Rating) platform which allows juniors to compete in competitive singles and doubles matches and improve their rating. This provides an opportunity for aspiring juniors to compete close to home while maximizing their UTR rating in order to pursue US College opportunities without all the traveling expenses involved in pursuing an ITF ranking. While using the UTR system, the NGTL league is completely coed in both singles and doubles.

Junior Teams will consist of 6 players and a Head Coach. Four out of the 6 players will compete each week in singles and doubles play in a team format with on court coaching. Siblings will be placed on the same team if desired.

  • League will start the week of January 4 and will run for 12 weeks.
  • Teams will compete once a week on the weekend. The NGTL junior league will aim to   play the matches on Saturday or Sunday morning.  **Note that the times can change.

Who is it for?

  • NGTL Junior League for players born 2005-2011

How are the players selected?

  • Players will be selected based on UTR rating.

What is the cost?

  • Cost of the league is $795 + HST if registered by October 15, 2020. Deposit of $300 payable upon entry. Remainder of cost will be due upon acceptance into the league. If not accepted, deposit will be returned.

How to register?

The Junior League will start in January 2021.
