Ottawa’s Nikola Bogojevic Selected by Tennis Canada to Train in UK
Earlier this month, young Ottawa player Nikola Bogojevic (3rd left, above) landed in the United Kingdom with the Canadian U11 team to participate in their very first sanctioned Tennis Europe competition, the Junior International Halton event, part of a 3-week competitive training block.
The players in the picture above are adjusting to the new conditions and recovering from the jetlag. They are also socializing and developing friendships along the way.
These young players are accompanied by Tennis Canada coaches who showed courtesy and respect by reaching out to us, the program head coaches at home, for feedback and background on the participating players, their developmental priorities, and other aspects of relevance.
This is the first time an Ottawa player of such a young age has been selected by Tennis Canada and funded to join a prestigious team of young athletes chosen from across the country for their technical and tactical prowess. Nikola has been training at Carleton University since age 6 in the competitive program run by Coach Michael supported by his assistants, Alex Harea first, and then by coach Mariya Toncheva.
