ONTENNIS Instructional Series – Part 9!

Check out the ninth release of the exclusive ONTENNIS “The Competitive Edge” instructional series by Tennis Canada Coach 3 Adrian Coles. This series is for anyone who wishes to raise their compete level. A lifelong player and coach, Mr. Coles features easy to digest tips and strategies to help keen recreational competitors play smarter. Improving stroke technique certainly helps but that requires a great deal of deliberate practice. A quicker way is to sharpen tactical skills whilst still using the strokes you've already got! He will cover topics often overlooked or even glossed over in on court instruction when hitting lots of balls is what is appreciated most.

In Part 9, “No Fault Insurance, Developing Serve Confidence!", Coach Adrian talks about the importance of developing a good, reliable serve. Everyone makes errors in a match, but Coach Coles stresses the importance of taking some extra time to practice the serve to make it reliable so as to not give your opponent any “free” points. Everybody dreams of hitting a big Ace at an important point in the match, but sometimes it’s better to just get it in and put the pressure squarely on your opponents shoulders.

NCTA Juniors Join Wozniak on Court!

A group of young female competitors from Ottawa, Matilda Edwards, Daisy Okechukwu, Bianca Borgogna and Melody Motamedi got a chance to have a two-hour clinic with Canada’s Tennis Hall of Fame and former WTA player Aleksandra Wozniak at the National Training Centre in Montreal. Organized by their coach Michael Paduch from Challengers Tennis Academy and Carleton Tennis Centre, this was a rare opportunity to be on court with one of the top Canadian players, get some High-Performance coaching. This was followed by a Q&A in which they heard what it was like for Aleksandra to play against the Williams sisters, Marion Bartoli, Sabine Lisicki and others. Thanks to coach Aleksandra and coach Michael for their support of the junior development in the NCTA region! All the players tried their hardest and should be proud of themselves and how they represented their academy and the NCTA. Keep up great work!
