Kingston TC 100th Anniversary Gala Evening

The Kingston Tennis Club (KTC) of Eastern Ontario turns 100 years old this year and a gala evening was held at the club on June 22nd to celebrate the momentous occasion. Former and current members were among the 150 guests in attendance at the “Centennial Smash”. Guests were encouraged to dress in vintage tennis or cocktail attire, paired with tennis shoes or sneakers, which resulted in fun outfits from sporty to vintage. A comprehensive review of local newspaper archives and club records had been undertaken to coincide with the centenary celebration to enhance existing knowledge of the club’s history. The outcome was three display boards featuring photos and text of “100 Years of Love” for viewing by the guests. Party tents provided shelter from the rain that fell during dinner, then the skies cleared for dancing to the 12-piece band which played lively Motown tunes and created an upbeat mood. The gala evening provided a wonderful opportunity for old friends of the Kingston tennis community to reunite, as evidenced by all the smiling faces. Thanks go to the many KTC volunteers who made this happen!
