About the Club: Our primary objective is to promote and maintain an interest in the game of tennis within the community. Our mission is to create an environment that fosters maximum participation, skill development and enjoyment through social, casual and competitive tennis. The club has over 1000 members and is one of the largest community clubs in the region.
Job Description: The tennis professional/instructors role will be for the 2023 outdoor tennis season and will report to the Head Tennis professional beginning in April and ending in October. They will be an important part of the coaching team and must be able to follow instructions, work as part of a team, have an understanding of progressive tennis curriculum, and adhere to the Quality Standards for Kid’s Tennis. The instructor has an ability to make a difference in the player, grow the sport at all stages of learning and ready to play an important part in their development. This person has a tremendous passion for the game, shows a caring and positive attitude for all students, encourages improvement, understanding of active participation and planning of lessons, appropriate challenge for the group as a whole, and most importantly produces a fun environment to help support tennis for life.
Duties: The Tennis Professional role will be to coach within spring-fall junior programs which include daily after school clinics, summer camp half day 1-4pm, potential for summer tme 9am-12pm coaching clinics and may also include evening/weekend adult/junior clinics with the potential to coach private lessons based on qualifications and demand. A fun and rewarding chance to help make a difference within Downtown/Central Toronto at one of the largest outdoor community club’s in the country!
Requirements/Qualifications:
- current TPA Instructor certification minimum/working towards Club Professional 1
- experience working with young people(4-15 years old) as well as experience coaching adults private lessons/group clinics at least one season
- up to date Vulnerable Sector Police Background/Criminal Check
- current First Aid/CPR preferred
- friendly, caring, outgoing, punctual, reliable, willingness to improve, and energetic
Pay for clinics sis based on certification level and starts at an hourly rate in line with the Ontario living wage.
