Summer Camp Volunteer

Job Type: Summer 2026 Volunteer Position 

Work hours: Flexible, approximately 10-30 hours per week based on availability and program needs 

Start date: June 29th, 2026 (training/orientation provided in advance) 

Shifts & Schedule: Variable based on camp registrations and operational needs. While camps run Monday through Friday in July and August, there may be additional availability of work opportunities during evenings and weekends. 

Location: Tennis Centre West Ottawa, 120 Greenview Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario, K2B 8J8 

Role Summary: 

As a Summer Camp Volunteer, you will support the daily operations of our youth tennis camp while helping create a safe, fun, and inclusive environment for participants. This role is ideal for individuals interested in working with children, developing leadership skills, and gaining experience in a recreational or sports setting. Volunteers will work alongside experienced coaching staff and contribute to delivering a positive camp experience that promotes teamwork, confidence, and sportsmanship. 

What you’ll do: 

• Assist coaches with basic on-court tennis activities and drills 
• Help lead age-appropriate games, fitness activities, and group exercises 
• Supervise campers during activities, breaks, and transitions 
• Encourage positive behaviour, teamwork, and participation 
• Support a safe environment by following guidelines and reporting concerns 
• Welcome and assist parents and members by directing them to appropriate staff 
• Help with basic setup and cleanup of courts and clubhouse areas 
• Participate in team meetings, training, and camp events 

Additional ways you may help: 

• Assist with camper check-in/check-out and attendance tracking 
• Support front desk activities such as greeting visitors and answering basic questions 
• Help maintain a clean and organized facility (tidying spaces, checking supplies, light court upkeep - training provided) 

What we are looking for: 

• Interest in working with children and youth 
• Positive, reliable, and team-oriented attitude 
• Comfortable assisting with group activities 
• Basic tennis experience (playing or assisting) is an asset, but not required 
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
• Willingness to learn and take direction from staff 
• Ability to be active outdoors for extended periods 

Requirements: 

• Must be between 15 and 30 years old 
• Must be legally eligible to volunteer in Canada 
• Must obtain (or be willing to obtain before start date): First Aid and CPR Level C & AED certification and Police Check (Vulnerable Sector) 
• The availability to volunteer for a minimum of two days during the week.
