Wayne Saigeon

The Grimsby Tennis Club has been Wayne Saigeon's home tennis club for 42 years. He has been club President on various occasions for a total of 23 years. He was President when the club had its first clubhouse, from which members' descriptions was primitive but functional. It was during the same year that he and many members came up with funds to surface the courts. During his involvement at the club, he has written the club constitution, organized club tournaments, coordinated district leagues, arranged tennis fairs and initiated junior tennis programs.

He has been the South West regional Chair, and an OTA Director, for 15 years. As regional Chair, Wayne has concentrated on ensuring that the Region provided many opportunities for playing tennis. He has set up a tennis tournament schedule for both juniors and for adult members of the Region, and assisted the local Parks & Recreation Departments to set up tennis summer programs. As a former educator, he alwyas made sure that he was at a school that had tennis courts, enabling him to promote the game of tennis to staff and to students.
