Tennis Anyone!

The Tennis Pathways Program is up and running, offering outreach opportunities across the province.

What is Tennis Pathways?

With assistance from the Ministry of Health Promotion, the Tennis Pathways Program looks to increase access to tennis at the community level, allowing both children and adults the opportunity to TRY tennis for free and LEARN for a subsidized cost at a local participating OTA community tennis club, called a Pathways Welcome Centre. The Tennis Pathways school program is another great way to introduce tennis to children as a part of the school curriculum.

How do I participate?

TRY sessions involving the Tennis Pathways Program targets local community festivals, linking TRY participants to OTA Welcome Centres. Before a tennis club starts looking into hosting a tennis pathways event, they should look at the following categories:
Membership: the local community club should be registered as an OTA member.
Festival: eager participants should be keen on seeking out festivals with in their community.
Volunteers: The club should have willing participants to make a difference with in their clubs community.
Attitude: Participant should be optimistic and motivated to promote the sport of tennis.
Schools: The goal of the school program is to introduce students to tennis with introductory visits to the school and demonstrations on how mini progressive tennis equipment can be used in the gym.  It is up to the teachers to continue to run the program as a unit, with the assistance of Tennis Pathways resources, such as lesson plans, discounted equipment and follow up visits by tennis coaches.
Cost: There are no costs required in booking a Tennis Pathways Event.  All that is required is that the club be an OTA member.
