Head-To-Head Rankings FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
1)When will this new ranking system take effect?
The OTA will begin utilizing the Head-To-Head ranking system on May 14, 2010.
2)Where can I find the Head-to-Head rankings on the OTA website?
From our home page (www.tennisontario.com) please go to the following section:
Player Development à Rogers Rankings
3)How were the initial rankings determined?
A careful audit has been done based on the current rankings in the Open, A, B and C categories to determine the starting value for each player. We also used comparisons with players currently in the Head-to-Head rankings to determine point values for specific players.
4)Why am I not listed on the rankings?
If you have not signed up to become a member of the Ontario Tennis Association or your membership has expired, your name will not be included in the rankings. To sign up or renew your membership, please go to our home page and click on the “Register Here” box.
Some players whose membership is current will not initially appear on the rankings. This is because a player is within one match (either a win or a loss against a ranked player) away from fulfilling the initialization criteria (see explanation above) required to be ranked. In this case, it is best to let the system determine your initial starting value for the sake of accuracy.
5)I am already on the rankings. How is this possible?
By virtue of being an active tournament player, some competitors have already fulfilled the Head-to-Head initialization criteria of one win and two losses against ranked players. In this case, your ranking will not be audited.
6)When are the rankings updated?
Typically, the Head-to-Head rankings are updated every Friday morning.
7)Who do I contact if I have any questions about the new ranking system?
All inquiries relating to the Head-to-Head rankings should go to:

IMPORTANT: Until June 25, 2010 we will be accepting requests from players who would like to challenge their ranking position. If you would like to go through this process, please do so IN E-MAIL FORM ONLY. Include evidence to support your claim. (ie head-to-head results against higher-ranked players, tournament results, etc.)
The OTA will review individual cases and decide if the request for a ranking change will be accepted based on the evidence submitted in the e-mail. We will not accept such requests over the phone. Thank you for your understanding.
8)Where can I go to find more detailed information about the Head-to-Head rankings?
For more detailed and specific info about the rankings, please go to www.tenniscanada.com/rogersrankings. This page will provide information about which tournaments will be counted, as well as more detailed information about the initialization formula.
