a division of the Ontario Tennis Association

Overview:

The Ontario Tennis Association (OTA) divides Ontario into ten regions. The regions:

·         Facilitate communication between member clubs; between member clubs and third parties, such as municipalities; and between member clubs and the OTA, ensuring that clubs are aware of OTA programs.

·         Organize programs such as leagues and tournaments.

·         Support junior participation.

At their Annual General Meeting in November each year, the clubs elect the Tennis Toronto Committee, which has a mandate to organize and run programs of interest to its member clubs. The Tennis Toronto Chair represents the region on the OTA Board of Directors.

The Tennis Toronto region is the City of Toronto except the former North York and Scarborough.  Tennis Toronto has 41 tennis clubs with over 10,000 adult tennis players, approximately 3,300 juniors, and, in terms of members, is the largest region in Ontario.

The clubs belonging to Tennis Toronto include community, private and commercial clubs.  A complete list, with links to their websites, is on the OTA website tennisontario.com  (Go to Membership & Regional Development,/Member Clubs, then click on Tennis Toronto.)

Organization:

Tennis Toronto operates as a division of the OTA and submits an annual operating plan and budget for approval and funding by the OTA.  The Regional Chair reports to the OTA Board of Directors and also supplies Minutes of Tennis Toronto meetings to the OTA.
