Toronto Tennis Junior Doubles League Rules
1. Teams should consist of 6 players, Under 12 and 6 players, Under 18 (age categories are determined as of January 1st of the current year). Teams are encouraged to play at least one female and one male participant in each age group. Players may play twice if lacking players in the higher age group and may play up.
2. Players must be a member of the club they are playing for and can only play for one club during any one season. This a grassroots league for seasonal and non-highly competitive tournament players. All players should know scoring and how to play full court doubles. Home clubs provide the match balls and are given the option to use full court low compression balls for players under 10. We would ask that players with a top 10 provincial ranking refrain from participating.
3. Each match is 12 games or 60 minutes whichever comes first. Games will be no-ad scoring with the receiving team selecting the receiver. Each game won is worth a point towards the teams total score. Matches shall be scheduled on Saturdays with the Under 12’s playing at 5:00 pm and the Under 18’s playing at 6:00 pm; unless mutually agreed to by the Team Captains or previously declared on the season schedule.
4. Coaches are encouraged to coach strategy and positioning during a 3 minute break after the fourth game.
5. The home team Captains are responsible for:
(1) Making Pre-game contact with their opponents by the Thursday preceding the match.
(2) Providing refreshments (light snack of fruit or pizza, drinks) for their guests.
(3) Supplying balls for the matches.
(4) Recording the scores and submitting them to the Ontario League System no later than Tuesday following the match, with a confirmation email to the League Coordinator.
6. In case of inclement weather , team Captains should try and reschedule for the following Sunday at a mutually convenient time or declare the match cancelled whereby no points will be awarded to either team.
7. There will be a season ending flighted tournament with a consolation round. To be eligible to play participants need to have played at least two regular season games. For this reason, it is recommended that throughout the season teams try and qualify more than the 12 players needed for the tournament. Teams will be seeded based on their seasonal results. As an entry fee each team will be ask to donate small prizes (balls, grips, vibration dampeners, caps, etc) per participant.
Have a great season!
