If he/she is, then his/her name will be posted on the list of certified coaches that appears on Tennis Canada's website.  To check this out, please go to www.tenniscanada.com and go to the Tennis Professionals Association (TPA)/List of Certified Coaches page. If your pro's name is not listed there, then the person either does not have current certification and/or is not a current member of the TPA.

In order for an instructor/coach to maintain his/her fully certified status, he/she is required to attend a professional development activity every 2, 3, or 4 years depending on his/her level of certification.  This important feature ensures your pro is up to date with regard to teaching methodology.

 


Kew Gardens Tennis Club (Toronto) has served the beach community for over 50 years, catering to all ages and providing a fun and safe environment.  Kew is a seasonal community tennis club operating from mid-Apriluntil the end of October.

We are looking for energetic friendly Court Monitors.  Court Monitors are the face of our club and the first interaction with our members and the public.
 
Responsibilities include:

  1. Open, close and secure facilities
  2. Enforce clubbooking rules and policies for members and pros
  3. Supervise use of clubhouse facilities (clubhouse and grounds) by members, guests and public
  4. Assist club portfolio managers (teams, tournaments, junior, social) during onsite events and programs
  5. Clay court day maintenance routines
  6. Telephone answering, telephone greeting system updates, daily website/social media updates
  7. Collect guest fees, merchandise sales and membership, camp, tournament and other fees – prepare report of fees collected
  8. Clubhouse housekeeping and grounds maintenance – including but not limited to cleaning main area of clubhouse and washrooms, - outdoors - sweeping, clearing weeds, cutting grass, watering grass and plants as necessary

Milton Tennis Club is a non-profit, volunteer run tennis club serving the community since 1923.  We are located in one of the fastest growing communities in Canada.  As such, we are looking for a Club/Office Manager to help the volunteer executive provide better service to our membership.  This position is seasonal from May to October.  The hours are approximately 30-40 hours per week and mainly afternoons and evenings with some flexibility. (3pm – 10pm M-F)  

Responsibilities include
  • Respond to all emails and phone calls from members and prospective non-members regarding club policies and programs
  • Opening and sorting all incoming mail and forwarding to the appropriate person
  • Maintaining a daily activity/issue report log for the benefit of the board
  • Registering members for programs and processing new membership applications
  • Addressing all issues to the responsible board member
  • Monitoring court usage to ensure members are following sign up procedures and courts are being allocated correctly
  • Greeting all members as they enter the club
  • Collecting guest fees and maintaining the guest registry (we limit the # of times a guest can play at the club without a membership)
  • Help to administer the club house league programs (Wed evening)
  • Supervise club attendants as required
  • Promote club programs and activities to ensure a greater participation rate
  • Keeping the club house tidy on a day to day basis such as emptying garbage cans, etc (there is a weekly cleaning staff)
  • Locking up the club house each night (10pm) at the end of the shift

Qualifications:

Seneca Summer Camps – Tennis Supervisor
Join Seneca Summer Camps today for an amazing & rewarding experience!

Seneca Summer Camps requires an experienced tennis instructor to develop and deliver the Tennis Summer Camp program for children 7 - 14 years old, under the guidance of the Camp Director.

The Tennis Supervisor must have a minimum of OTA Tennis Instructor Certification and have extensive interest and education/work/playing experience and knowledge.  Summer Camp experience is an asset.  All Seneca Summer Camp staff must have current Standard First Aid and CPR training and High Five certification prior to the start of camp. We offer certifications and training sessions for staff. Staff must also provide a current vulnerable sector criminal reference check prior to contract signing. ALL Seneca Summer Camp staff MUST BE CURRENT FULL TIME STUDENTS.

Rate of Pay: $13.16 per hour
Employment: July 3 - August 24, 2012 (40 hrs per week)

The Beaumaris Yacht Club (BYC) in the beautiful Muskoka region is looking to hire motivated and energetic tennis instructors for the summer tennis season (position to be filled immediately!)

BYC is located in between Bracebridge and Port Carling on Lake Muskoka and is a very unique private club with a social and friendly environment. The season begins June 20th and goes through to August 26th.

The Instructors will be required to help run junior tennis camps - age groups 5-7, 7-9, 10-15, and junior events.  They will be required to help run afternoon adult clinics, assist with adult round robins and some weekend events.

  • Instructor must have a minimum qualification of Instructor level 1

Joshua Creek Tennis runs multi-sport summer camps, a junior tennis academy and a full schedule of indoor and outdoor programs. Our club is located close to the Oakville/Mississauga border. We have over 800 children at an introductory level that participate in our programs through the summer. The focus is on tennis but our camps include a variety of other sports including golf, soccer, basketball and volleyball.  We are now hiring for the following summer positions and potentially year-round employment for suitable candidates:

Summer Camp Counsellors
We are looking for energetic, enthusiastic individuals to join our team.  Candidates are chosen selectively and will enjoy a fun working environment and compensation based on experience.  Suitable candidates will have camp counselling experience, first aid/CPR training, an outgoing friendly nature and experience dealing with children.  You will enjoy a summer outdoors in a fun, friendly atmosphere with rewarding, character building work experiences!

Qualifications:
- Minimum 16 years of age for Junior Counsellors, minimum 18 years of age for Senior Counsellors
- Must have experience in either tennis, school teaching, coaching or dealing with children
- Candidates must be enthusiastic, reliable and enjoy working with children

Junior Academy Teaching Professionals
Our junior tennis academy runs for two hours/day (4:30 to 6:30) after our day camp program.  Some of our camp counsellors with teaching certification or more tennis experience will stay on and help teach the academy.  Other instructors come just for the academy time.  There may also be an opportunity for these instructors to teach some private lessons outside of academy and camp time.

Qualifications:
- Certification and/or playing credentials required (varies based on level of class)
- Teaching experience is a must
- Candidates must be enthusiastic, interactive and enjoy working with children
- Knowledge of progressive tennis / mini tennis programming is a definite asset

Junior Academy Head Professional
This person will participate in teaching the junior academy (see above) but will also oversee the other instructors in the program.  There may also be an opportunity for this person to teach some private lessons outside of academy and camp time.

Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Tennis Canada Coach 2
- At least 5 years of full time teaching experience
- Co-ordination/development of programming an asset
- Extensive knowledge of introductory teaching, progressive tennis / mini tennis is required

Situation:

General Function:

Under the direction of the Gym and Tennis Program Supervisor, Summer Program Coordinators and the Director of Family Programs, the Tennis Head staff person is responsible for providing recreational and progressive instructional programs in tennis for children, youth and adults.  The Tennis Head is responsible for ensuring high quality tennis programs and providing tennis training to their fellow Gym Staff.  The Tennis Head staff person is a part of the larger Summer Program Staff Team and will also be responsible for Reaction and Event Crew programming, emergency procedures, and attending staff meetings and events.  This position would require the staff to live on site at YMCA Geneva Park, accommodations and food will be provided.  This position would include a specific daily shift in the Gym and Tennis program area with 55 minutes off for lunch and evening program responsibilities twice a week.  This position would receive one day off for each week worked.

Job Knowledge/Qualifications:

 
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR - Level C
  • Current Criminal Reference Check (dated within 6 months prior to contract start date)
  • Tennis Instructor Level certification or higher and/or Introduction to Coaching and/or NCCP Level 1 is required
  • Certifications and/or the ability to teach one or more of the following: fitness classes (yoga, box fit, aerobics, running), dance, sports a strong asset

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safety: To practice strong risk management.  To know and understand all information and procedures for emergency response, site safety and security.
  • Programming: To create and instruct innovative Gym and Tennis programs for guests of Geneva Park as well as for Reaction Crew and Event Crew programs as per the guidelines established by the Gym and Tennis Supervisor, and the Summer Program Coordinators.  To actively participate in all Staff Team planning meetings.
  • Operations: To help ensure efficient and effective operation of the program area including providing tennis training to gym staff, equipment and facility maintenance, and all administrative duties associated with this position including program jottings, lesson sign-ups, achievement awards, and evaluations.
  • Role Model: To act as a positive role model for other staff and guests of the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka whether on or off duty.  To abide by all rules and regulations.
  • Customer Service: To provide timely and professional interaction with all guests of the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka to ensure quality customer service and satisfaction.
  • Staff Development: To participate in all ongoing staff development including training, orientation, hands-on learning, performance management and evaluation.

The Jane and Finch Community Tennis Association (Toronto) is looking to hire an Assistant Coach.

Job Overview:
The overall goal of the Jane/Finch After School Program is to contribute to the social development of the Jane/Finch community through tennis and educational opportunities.  The primary responsibility for this position is to oversee the tennis component of the after school program.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the Assistant Coach include:
  • Assist Head Coach in lesson plans.
  • Deliver twice weekly tennis training.
  • Council participants on healthy living.
  • Incorporate specific values and life skills such as team work, fair play, and respect into every day programming.
  • Instruct and monitor participants' progress and provide evaluation in tennis training.

Reporting Structure:
The Assistant Coach reports to the Head Coach and Program Manager.

The After School Program:
The schedule for the 2012 fall season of the After School Program is ten weeks long and will start on January 10th and end on March 15th.  The program takes place at Tennis Canada, by York University.

Hours and Pay Rate:
The Assistant Coach will be required to attend all tennis lessons on Tuesday and Thursday between 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
Pay rate is based on qualifications.
